Born Alessandro Lettieri in 1928, he was known to be aquainted to real gangsters, such as Joey Gallo. He was famous for his villainous roles, including Sollozzo, Rudy from The Getaway and Santiago in McQ.

Lettieri died of a heart attack in 1975, leaving behind his wife and two children.
