"Bowery" Bill Shipp was the owner of the Bowery Hotel in Little Italy.
Biography[]
Hardened by years of growing up on the East Side, Bowery Bill was known to be one of the most intimidating proprietors in the city. He gained a partnership with the Barzini family in the mid-forties in hope of achieving the necessary revenue to improve his hotel.
In 1945, Shipp became plagued with unruly tenants who were not intimidated by his threats, an the Barzini family refused to assist. He turned to Aldo Trapani, an outsider with ties to the Corleone family for help. Trapani evicted the tenants, and received protection from the hotel.
Despite this, Shipp maintained some connections with the Barzinis, whether out of loyalty or fear, and allowed them to hole up FBI agent D. Cooper in one of his hotel rooms.
