A veteran Italian actor, he appeared in numerous character parts as well as being known as a key player in the dubbing business, dubbing Alec Guinness' voice for the Italian cut of the Star Wars Trilogy.

Gaipa also appeared as Don Tommasino in The Godfather and would have reprised the role in The Godfather: Part Three but died in 1989.
