Fidel Castro is a socialist leader who had control of Cuba from 1959 to 2008.

BiographyEdit

Castro attended the Havana University and went into politics after his graduation, becoming a noticed political figure. He openly opposed Fulgencio Batista's regime, and because of Batista's repression and Mafia ties, Castro declared the revolution to force Batista out of the presidential office. Castro's socialist government control of Cuba after Batista's resignation meant Hyman Roth's plans for Cuba failed, as his friendship with the old regime was the key to do business there.

Castro survived various assassination attempts (which were orchistrated by the CIA and anti-Castro movements) and continued to rule Cuba until 2008, when he resigned on grounds of failing health. Castro's younger brother, Raúl, was elected president.

In the video game, Roth set up connections with Castro through Esteban Almeida, preparing for any eventuality.

Assassination AttemptEdit

Dominic Corleone made acquaintance with CIA agent Henry Mitchell through Roth and performed a hit for him on Castro. He managed to hit the target, but failed to kill him. Castro was backed by the Cuban Almeida crime family, which continued to support him after his botched hit by attempting to take out the Corleone family. Although fighted with Battista's corrupt regime, also he himself was revealed a very corrupt dictator.
