Nino Rota was the composer of the scores for The Godfather.

Biography[]

Born in Milan to a musical family, Rota moved to United States from 1930-1932. He later returned to Milan and wrote his thesis.

During the 1940s, he became famous for scoring over thirty films, many for the director Federico Fellini. Arguably, his most famous scores are for The Godfather (on which he collaborated with Carmine Coppola) and Romeo and Juliet.

He died in 1979, but his music was adapted into The Godfather Part III.
