Added by Sonny BlackThe Genco Pura Olive Oil Company was a front company formed by Vito Corleone in the 1920s. It was named after his childhood friend and consigliere, Genco Abbandando. Its headquarters were on Mott Street, Little Italy. It eventually grew to become the largest olive-oil importer in the nation.
The Company was a front for the family's criminal activities and its more shady operations were carried out by Salvatore Tessio and Peter Clemenza, the caporegimes. The company became incredibly successful during the 1930s, after defeating Salvatore Maranzano in an event that would later be known as the Olive Oil War.
It was outside these offices that Vito Corleone would be gunned down by men loyal to Virgil Sollozzo in 1945.
