Jake Cohen was a Roth syndicate associate and the manager of the Capri in Havana in the late 1950s.


A trusted associate of Hyman Roth, Jake Cohen was in charge of the daily operations of the Capri, which was originally owned by Roth and later by the Corleone family. However, during the Cuban Revolution of 1959 the hotel was seized by Fidel Castro's forces which forced Cohen back to the United States.

Jake Cohen is most likely based on Sam Cohen, who was an associate of Meyer Lansky and the brother of gangster Mickey Cohen. However, the name Jake comes from Meyer Lansky's brother, Jake Lansky.

Behind the scenesEdit

Jake Cohen's role is mentioned in the second draft of The Godfather Part II screenplay, but he doesn't appear in the movie itself.
