Portrayed Willie Cicci

Joe Spinell (born Joseph Spagnuolo) was an Italian-American actor who had an extensive acting career following a character part as Willie Cicci in The Godfather, which he got whilst acting as a cab driver before being spotted by Francis Ford Coppola. He reprised the role in The Godfather Part II. He then appeared in numerous films, such as Rocky and Rocky II, Taxi Driver and Nighthawks. Usually cast in minor roles, Spinell had a star turn in the cult horror film Maniac, which he also co-wrote.

Spinell was supposed to have been included in The Godfather Part III, but he died of a blood clot prior to filming. His role as Cicci was replaced by Joe Mantegna as Joey Zasa.
