Speak Softly Love (Love Theme From The Godfather)

From The Godfather Wiki

(Redirected from Speak Softly Love)

Speak Softly Love is the main theme music from The Godfather. It was written by Lary Kusic and Nino Rota.

The theme appears numerous times in the film, usually as an instrumental piece, although it is sung by an old woman in The Godfather: Part II and again by Anthony Corleone, who claims it is an 'authentic Sicilian' ballad called Brucia La Terra.

It has also been released by several artists, including Andy Williams, Bobby Vinton, Dalaida and Al Martino, who plays Johnny Fontane. It was also released as a heavy metal track by Slash.

It was also released by Patrick Buanne as Parla Piu Piano, which was the translation of the song in Italian.

[edit] Lyrics

Speak softly, love and hold me warm against your heart
I feel your words, the tender trembling moments start
We're in a world, our very own
Sharing a love that only few have ever known

Wine-colored days warmed by the sun
Deep velvet nights when we are one

Speak softly, love so no one hears us but the sky
The vows of love we make will live until we die
My life is yours and all because
You came into my world with love so softly love

(instrumental interlude>

Wine-colored days warmed by the sun
Deep velvet nights when we are one

Speak softly, love so no one hears us but the sky
The vows of love we make will live until we die
My life is yours and all because
You came into my world with love so softly love
